Physio Focus - Jackie Grant - cont.
Can you tell us more about your practice?
I treat both humans and animals (large and small) and run my own practice in Maidstone, Kent with a team of 4 associates.
I travel out to the majority of my equine clients but also have access to a local veterinary centre with excellent assessment facilities.
I work out of three veterinary practices treating small animals as well as working from a Maidstone canine hydrotherapy centre.
What other animal related/ACPAT activities are you involved in?
Like many other Category A members, I am involved with the teaching/training of Category B members. This will involve Category B members coming out with me for practical training.
I have also lectured on the RVC Vet Physio course as well as to many local vet practices and local riding clubs.
I am a member of our local Kent ACPAT branch where we plan and participate in activities to promote our continuing professional development (CPD).
I am currently working on a small research project into muscle activity of dogs during balance activities in conjunction with University of Greenwich, Chatham Maritime, Centre for Sport and Exercise Science.
My colleague, Berna Lindfield, is assisting me with this project.
In November 2003 I was elected Chair of the ACPAT Committee. This keeps me very busy with all the developments that are happening in animal physiotherapy! I am honoured and proud to work with such a dedicated team of animal physiotherapists who are the ACPAT Committee.
My leisure activities include riding my horse and walking my three King Charles Cavalier spaniels. I also have a cat, but she owns me rather than me owning her!
