ACPAT Constitution 2005 - Objectives
The objectives of ACPAT are to:
- Develop and provide clinical guidance and standards of practice for those working in the field of animal physiotherapy.
- Encourage, promote and facilitate communication on professional, theoretical and technical/practical matters between members.
- Provide a system of Continuing Professional Development (CPD), in accordance with the requirements and recommendations of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) and the Health Professions Council (HPC) , whereby members must show evidence of fulfilment of CPD; before re-registering annually. These requirements and recommendations will be periodically reviewed by the committee and published at the AGM.
- Promote evaluation of practice within animal physiotherapy.
- Promote and facilitate post registration education in animal physiotherapy. To provide lectures, demonstrations, post-registration courses and discussions; on relevant topics and matters of interest to members.
- Promote the benefits of animal physiotherapy.
- Disseminate knowledge of physiotherapy within the veterinary profession.
- Promote research in the field of animal physiotherapy.
- Strengthen and maintain a direct relationship between ACPAT and the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy.
- Promote good relationships, co-operation and collaboration between members of ACPAT, the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons and the Royal Veterinary College (University of London).
- Act as an advisory body to which members and the public can apply for advice concerning matters specific to animal physiotherapy.
