Careers in Animal Physiotherapy
Please view our FAQ for careers information.
ACPAT Education
To become a Category A member of ACPAT, completion of a recognised training course is required. Theoretical and practical training can currently be obtained through the Royal Veterinary College (RVC) and the University of the West of England (UWE).
Upgrading Routes
Please note: As of the ACPAT AGM in March 2008, the previous stipulation for two years post graduation clinical experience prior to upgrading to a Category A physiotherapist has been removed.
Entry Criteria for the post graduate upgrading courses for Veterinary Physiotherapy lie with the individual universities. Please contact them directly for their current entry requirements. Successful completion of one of the ACPAT upgrading routes allows the candidate to apply for ACPAT Category A status.
Both training routes require the Physiotherapist to be a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) and the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Animal Therapy (ACPAT). Also the Health Professions Countil (HPC) if still working in the human field.
